• Chao News: Charting the Future of Health — WYSS Grand Health Forum Explores "Microecology and One Health"

  • On November 23rd, the Innovation and Development Conference on Microecology and One Health, part of the 2025 World Young Scientists Summit (WYSS) Grand Health Forum, concluded successfully. Over the three-day event, more than 200 top international experts, young scholars, and industry representatives gathered to explore cutting-edge topics including microecology and big health, the One Health strategy, and environmental health interventions. They promoted in-depth integration of industry, academia, and research, contributing wisdom and strength to the innovative development of the global big health sector.

    The conference featured multiple sessions, such as plenary sessions and young scientists’ parallel sessions. On-site ceremonies were held, including the licensing of the supporting unit of the Microecology and Health Professional Committee of the China Medical Education Association, the inauguration of the Institute of Lifespan Microbiota and Health at Wenzhou Medical University, and the launch of the English journal Microecology and One Health. During the conference, a strategic development seminar of the institute and an editorial board meeting of the English journal Microecology and One Health were also convened.

    In the keynote report session, top international experts and scholars shared their research findings and cutting-edge perspectives, presenting a high-level academic feast for the participants.

    Huang Zhengming, Honorary President of the China Medical Education Association and Academician of the International Academy of Ecology and Life Safety, delivered a speech themed “The Rise of the Microecology Industry in the Era of Big Health — Now Is the Time.” In his speech, he conducted an in-depth analysis of the current development status and future directions of the microecology field. He stated that the microecology industry has become an emerging strategic sector, and through technological innovation, standard-setting, and cross-border integration, it is expected to reshape production and lifestyle patterns and emerge as a new engine for the development of Healthy China.

    Professor Lu Jiahai, Director of the Zhejiang One Health Collaborative Innovation Center, delivered a report themed “The One Health Strategy — Ending Future Pandemics.” Combining public health challenges facing humanity, he introduced the current development of One Health and China’s practices, and called for building shared health to achieve the “One Health” goal.

    Professor Xiao Chunling, Chair of the Microecology and Health Professional Committee of the China Medical Education Association and Academician of the International Academy of Ecology and Life Safety, delivered a keynote report titled “The Development and Outlook of Microecology in China,” showcasing disciplinary progress, scientific research accumulation, and innovative achievements in this field in China. She noted that the microecology industry is an important strength for addressing challenges related to One Health, environmental protection, and sustainable development, boasting both economic value and social benefits.

    Professor Rachael Lappan from Monash University in Australia, together with Professor Liu Hongtao from Hubei University of Chinese Medicine, Professor He Bin from Ningbo University, Professor Deng Furong from Peking University, and Professor Zhu Baoli from the University of Science and Technology of China, shared cutting-edge research findings in their respective fields, including the microecological world, One Health perspectives and practices, and microbial genomics analysis.

    The Young Scientists Parallel Session set up three thematic panels: Microecology, One Health, and Achievements Transformation and Application. Young scholars including Liu Chang, Zuo Tao, and Wei Zhong took the stage to share their latest research findings, fully demonstrating the scientific vitality and innovative thinking of the younger generation and injecting youthful momentum into the development of microecology and One Health.

    The organization of this conference not only built an academic exchange bridge for the global microecology and One Health field but also fostered the collision of cutting-edge concepts and the sharing of innovative technologies, providing a high-quality platform for young scientists to showcase their talents, exchange ideas, and carry out cooperation.
