Public Administration is the main supporting discipline of the newly listed Social Sciences, General discipline. Relying on the School of Medical Humanities and Management of Wenzhou Medical University and the Institute of Medical Humanities of Zhejiang Provincial Key Research Base of Philosophy and Social Sciences, this discipline has leveraged the strengths of WMU as a medical university and formed a two-way development framework integrating the foundation of public management with the characteristics of medical humanities. The discipline carries out interdisciplinary scientific research on health policy, social medicine and health management, and medical education policy and management, fostering collaboration between management and medicine. It has cultivated a group of young and middle-aged academic talents and taken the lead in hosting academic activities such as the Health Ethics Forum of the China Ethics Conference and the National Medical Humanities Education Alliance for Regional Medical Colleges and Universities. The discipline will continue to strengthen its policymaking advisory capabilities in health policy research and build a distinctive public management discipline system with medical characteristics.

Essential Science Indicate(ESI) is a fundamental analysis and evaluation tool for measuring scientific research performance and tracking scientific development trends. It is a quantitative analysis database based on more than 10 million literature records of more than 12,000 academic journals around the world included in Clarivate Analytics Web of Science (SCIE/SSCI). ESI divides all sciences into 22 areas of specialization. ESI has become one of the important evaluation index tools commonly used to evaluate the international academic standing of universities, academic institutions, and countries/regions in the world. The top 1% of ESI disciplines are generally regarded as international high-level disciplines, and the disciplines that enter the top 1‰ of ESI are generally considered to have reached the international top level.
