• Longgang Campus of the First Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University Officially Opens

  • The Longgang campus of the First Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University (WMU) was officially put into operation on November 22, marking the hospital’s third campus following its Gongyuanlu campus and Nan Baixiang campus.

    Present at the opening ceremony were Mao Qun'an, former director of the Department of Planning and Information of the National Health Commission and vice president of the Chinese Hospital Association, Shi Aizhu, member of the Standing Committee and minister of the Publicity Department of the CPC Wenzhou Municipal Committee, Li Xiaokun, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and president of WMU, Liu Xiaozhou, director of the Planning and Information Department of Zhejiang Provincial Health Commission, Wang Xiaochun, head of the Wenzhou Municipal Health Commission, Wu Shuguang, head of the Wenzhou Healthcare Security Bureau, Shen Xian, vice-president of WMU and secretary of the Party Committee of the First Affiliated Hospital of WMU, and Lin Haihan, deputy secretary of the CPC Longgang Committee and mayor of Longgang City.

    At the ceremony, the National Engineering Research Center for Cell Growth Factor Drugs and Protein Preparations officially inaugurated its Clinical Transformation Base (Longgang) Sub-center. This awarding ceremony indicates that the Longgang campus has obtained robust platform support for improving its professional capabilities and will take a solid stride in fulfilling the diverse healthcare needs of the public. Covering a total land area of 155,000 square meters with 1,200 beds, the Longgang campus constitutes an essential part of the "One Body, Two Wings" strategic layout of the First Affiliated Hospital of WMU. Built to the standards of a modern, tertiary Grade A comprehensive hospital integrating medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, prevention, and rehabilitation, it will operate in an integrated manner and under homogeneous management with the other two campuses, striving to create an upgraded "Future Hospital" that features seamless sharing of medical resources, full-cycle services, and data-driven operations.

    The Longgang campus is committed to building a three-tier health service system linking hospitals and medical institutions at the provincial, municipal, and community levels, which will provide patients with a full-cycle and high-quality medical experience. Personalized, precise, and intelligent innovations cover the entire patient care process at Longgang campus, from pre-diagnosis to post-treatment. Advanced technologies, such as 5G, the Internet of Things, digital twins, artificial intelligence, and large-scale medical models, are deeply integrated and applied here.

    At present, the First Affiliated Hospital of WMU has sent more than 620 experts and core staff to the Longgang campus and will continue to expand the team as patient demand grows, ensuring that residents of Longgang receive medical care of the same high standard as offered at the other two campuses.
