On the afternoon of November 11, the opening ceremony of the "Window of Science and Technology" Exhibition Hall and the Laboratory of Academician Xiaokun Li of Wenzhou Medical University was held in the lobby of the Biomedical Science Research Building on the Chashan Campus. Professor Zheng Yuguo, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Professor Zhuo Min, fellow of the Academy of Science of the Royal Society of Canada, Mr. Wang Zhenyong, vice mayor of Wenzhou, Professor Lyu Yijun, secretary of the Party Committee of WMU, Professor Li Xiaokun, president of WMU and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Professor Song Weihong, academic vice president of WMU and fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences, and Professor Liu Fang, fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences, attended the ceremony. Lyu Yijun pointed out that the opening of the "Window of Science and Technology" Exhibition Hall, as an important arena to display the latest scientific research achievements and disseminate scientific research culture, will further stimulate scientific exploration among WMU scientific researchers. The opening of the Laboratory of Academician Xiaokun Li will help further strengthen the leading role of top scientists, give full play to the advantages of high-level talents and advanced research platforms, and promote the transformation and upgrading of the biomedical industry. Wenzhou Medical University will take the opening of the "Window of Science and Technology" Exhibition Hall and the Academician Laboratory as an opportunity to unswervingly serve the strategy for invigorating the country through science and education, vigorously cultivate innovative scientific and technological talents, firmly carry out organized scientific research and innovation, and constantly make the layout of scientific research more strategic, pioneering, and coordinated, thus making new and greater contributions to “developing science and technology as the primary productive force, cultivating talents as the primary resource, and enhancing innovation as the primary driver of growth”.

After the ceremony, a consultation meeting on the construction of pharmaceutical sciences as a first-class discipline was held. The participating domestic and foreign academicians and experts put forward valuable suggestions for the development of the pharmaceutical sciences discipline at WMU in terms of disciplinary integration of pharmacology and medicine, commercialization of research results, focuses on clinical and social needs, innovation of research and development technology, and expansion of application fields, empowering the discipline.

Li Xiaokun noted that the suggestions of the participating experts are of great significance and set directions for developing pharmaceutical sciences as a first-class discipline. WMU will follow the guidance of experts and promote the construction of the "great pharmacy" discipline through the integration of industry, education, research, and clinical services. With a special focus on macromolecular drugs, the discipline will continue to solve the problems of drug delivery and preparation and carry out in-depth research on the clinical physiological rules and pathological changes of proteins in human body. Based on the high-level platform, the discipline aims to strengthen and deepen WMU’s five-in-one construction mode of the "great pharmacy" discipline, strengthen the training of clinical pharmaceutical personnel, make good use of drugs in clinical practice, and serve people's health.
