From April 8th to 9th, the Clinical Medical Professional Track contest of the 12th Zhejiang Provincial College Student Medical Technology Skills Competition was held at Wenzhou Medical University. 160 players from 40 teams of 16 colleges and universities in the province participated in the competition. Wenzhou Medical University (including Renji College) won three gold awards, one silver award, and one bronze award.
The competition is sponsored by the Zhejiang College Student Technology Contest Committee, hosted by Wenzhou Medical University, and organized by the School of the 1st Clinical Medical Sciences. For the first time in its twelve-year history, the competition was held both on- and off-line with a competition mode of "open organization, separate implementation, and unified evaluation".
The main venue of the competition was set at Wenzhou Medical University, and there were 11 sub-venues set at the participating universities. Each sub-venue included three preliminary rounds and three final rounds in form of OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination). The competition covered internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, orthopedics, emergency medicine, and nursing, to examine the participants in terms of basic clinical knowledge, basic clinical skills, clinical thinking, doctor-patient communication, humanistic care, and teamwork. After a day of fierce competition, six teams won gold awards, 14 teams won silver awards, and 20 teams won bronze awards.
Cao Jianming, member of the WMU Party committee and vice president, Zhu Xuebo, member of the WMU Party committee and director of the Academic Affairs Office, and Professor Chen Li of Zhejiang University, the chief referee of the competition, participated in the whole competition and gave guidance.
The Zhejiang Provincial College Student Medical Technology Skills Competition has been recognized as a key event of the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Education since 2010. It is a brand project of medical education in Zhejiang Province, and an important platform for medical colleges and universities to display teaching achievements and share experience.
