The construction of the Comprehensive Building in the Yaoxi Branch of the School & Hospital of Stomatology, Wenzhou Medical University (WMU) was completed on the morning of June 10. WMU Vice President Wang Liangxing and theleadership of the Affiliated Stomatology Hospital celebrated the completion by shoving the last tank of concrete onto the building’s top floor. It marks the end of the construction part of the Yaoxi Branch Project, which has now entered the second phase of decoration.

Located on the B-19 Plot (near west side of Caolong Road, Yongzhong Subdistrict, Longwan District) in the Living Quarters to the North of Yaoxi, Long District, the New Branch of the School of Stomatology/the Affiliated Hospital of Stomatology (New Branch) covers a land of 33.7 Mu (or 22477.9 square meters) with a total building area of 36081.7 square meters. With an area equivalent to 20 times of that of the current facilities on Xueyuan Road, the New Branch close to Ouhai Avenue is easily accessible and convenient to all transportation. The Yaoxi Branch Projectto build a Tertiary-A specialized hospital of stomatology, has been designated as a livelihood project of Wenzhou,a key construction project of both the municipal government of Wenzhou and the Zhejiang provincial government. Designed to be an eco-friendly hospital, the new hospital with its 11-floored main building resting on a 3-floored podium and a floor underground will be a modern “one-stop” hospital of stomatology integrated with functions of outpatient service, surgery, inpatient service, teaching and research.

Approved by the government in 2012, the construction of the Yaoxi Branch of the School & Hospital of Stomatology commenced with the foundation stone being laid in November, 2015. The Project is expected to be completed in 2018. When completed, the new hospital will initially put in use 186 stemmatological chairs and 90 beds. It will then alleviate the shortage of housing for medical service, research and teaching purposes, and improve the access to dental care for patients living in eastern part of the city, and thus providing more convenient and high quality oral care services for people in Wenzhou.
