Accompanied by officials from the Division of Foreign Exchange Services of Wenzhou Foreign & Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, Dr. Chen Wanjie, the Deputy Commissioner for Foreign Trade of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber and the Chief Representative of Graz Geriatrics Health Center in China, and Ms. SliviaNeureiter, the Consul General of the Republic of Austria in Shanghaivisited Wenzhou Medical University (WMU) on the afternoon of February 26th. Vice President Jin Shengwei and leading officials of International Cooperation and Exchange Office, School of the 2nd Clinical Medical Sciences and School of Nursingattended the meeting with the visiting delegation.
During the meeting, Vice President Jin Shengwei, on behalf of WMU, extended welcome to the delegation and briefed delegation members about WMU. According to him, with the social-economic development and the increasing apparent trend of an aging population, people are more and more concerned about the care of the elderly. He hoped that the two sides will learn from each other and carry out more exchange activities, and strengthen cooperation to make a positive contribution to the cause of elderly health care.
Leading officials ofSchool of Nursing and School of the 2nd Clinical Medical Sciences introduced WMU’s efforts and developmentin the elderly health care and rehabilitation physiotherapy. After introducing the Graz Elderly Health Center and theAlbert Schweitzer to the participants, Dr. Chen discussed with the host on matters relating to the establishment of China Albert Geriatrics Research Center,geriatric nursing training center and the joint establishment of a Huatuo Institute at the University of Graz.
During the visit, the delegationalso visited the School of Nursing, the First Affiliated Hospital and Ouhai Life and Health Town.
