• WMU Achieves Excellent Results in Provincial “Internet Plus” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition

  • On July 30th, the finals of the 8th Zhejiang College Students “Internet Plus” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition concluded at Zhejiang Sci-Tech University. The participating projects of Wenzhou Medical University won 6 gold awards and 15 silver awards. WMU won the “Excellent Organization Award”. Cao Jianming, member of the WMU Party Committee and vice president, came to the finals to guide and encourage the participating teams.

    With the theme of “Brave, Creative as I Can Be”, the competition continued to improve the enterprising quality and innovation capabilities of students. The competition was divided into the main higher education track, the “Youth Red Dream Journey” track, the vocational education track, the international track, and the budding track. After the online review by experts in the semi-finals, 448 projects entered the provincial finals. All the projects were divided into 23 groups to compete according to the categories and quantity.

    Since January this year, WMU had steadily carried out the incubation work for the competition and received more than 100 entries, with a participation rate of nearly 30%. Through fierce rivalries, “Aimeite Islet Gel – An Effective New Carrier to Preserve Islet Cells for 60 days” and another project won the gold awards in the main higher education track. “Medical Support at 35° N, the First One-stop Prevention and Treatment System for Thalassemia Nationwide” won the gold award in the “Youth Red Dream Journey” track. “The Ice-Breaker of Precision Nanomedicine for Breast Cancer” won the gold award in the international track with other two projects.

    The competition was jointly hosted by the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Education, Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the Communist Youth League of China, Zhejiang Association for Science and Technology, and The Students’ Federation of Zhejiang Province. Under the joint effort of the universities and colleges across the province, this year’s provincial competition had a growing influence and attracted a total of 125 schools, 4.65 thousand projects, and 359 thousand participants, with the participation rate of universities and colleges (excluding secondary vocational schools) in the province attaining 26.18%. The international track attracted 1536 projects by more than 5500 participants from 124 countries and regions to join. The national competition will be held at Chongqing University.
