On December 5th, the finals of the 7th National Forum for Undergraduates on Innovation Research & Experimental Design in Basic Medicine, sponsored by the Basic Medical Group of National Experimental Teaching Demonstrating Center Association and organized by the Air Force Medical University of PLA, came to a successful conclusion in Xi'an. After the preliminary competitions in the eastern division, three projects at WMU entered the online defense of the finals, and all of them won awards, two gold awards and one bronze award. Wang Zhenglu's team won the "Best Style Award" in particular, and WMU won the "Excellent Organization Award".
It is reported that the National Forum for Undergraduates on Innovation Research & Experimental Design in Basic Medicine is the most influential platform to showcase the innovative practical education achievements of college students in the field of basic medical education in China. It has been held for six consecutive sessions. The new three-stage competition system of "school competition, division competition and final competition" is adopted for the first time this year. The preliminary school competition covered 211 colleges and universities in 31 provinces (municipalities) and autonomous regions, with more than 2300 teams and more than 9300 students. After the division competitions in the eastern division, the central and southern division, the western division, the northern division and the division of higher vocational college, 306 projects of 133 colleges and universities from 30 provinces were selected for the final defense. Due to the pandemic, the finals were conducted in form of online video presentations by students and offline evaluation by judges with full supervision by a supervisory committee.
