• WMU, China Rehabilitation Research Center Jointly Build School of Rehabilitation Medicine
  • On the morning of October 15, the strategic cooperation meeting and signing ceremony between Wenzhou Medical University and China Rehabilitation Research Center was held in the conference room on the 4th floor of Tongxin Building at the Chashan campus. Wu Shicai, Party Secretary and Director-General of China Rehabilitation Research Center, Liao Limin, Deputy Party Secretary and Deputy Director-General of China Rehabilitation Research Center, and WMU President and Academician Li Xiaokun, attended the meeting. WMU Vice President Jin Shengwei presided over the meeting.

    A signing ceremony for strategic cooperation was held at the meeting. According to the agreement, the two sides will carry out in-depth cooperation in personnel training, team building, scientific research, joint construction of disciplines, medical cooperation and joint construction of the School of Rehabilitation Medicine, facilitating the personnel training and discipline construction in rehabilitation therapy, integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine, and geriatrics.

    Also, the launching ceremony of the School of Rehabilitation Medicine of Wenzhou Medical University was held at the meeting. The school will explore a new development model of rehabilitation discipline and cultivate high-end medical talents in the new age.

    Li Xiaokun welcomed Wu Shicai and his delegation. He pointed out that China Rehabilitation Research Center is a milestone achieved in the development history of modern rehabilitation medicine in our country and a shining pearl of China’s rehabilitation medicine. The strategic cooperation follows the guiding principles of the Fifth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee, the Healthy China initiative, and national strategies of actively responding to population aging. The two sides should take the construction of the School of Rehabilitation Medicine as an opportunity to effectively improve the training quality of rehabilitation professionals, steadily promote the construction of disciplines, further strengthen the construction of rehabilitation medical service system, so as to contribute to the development of rehabilitation medical service in China.

    Wu Shicai highly appreciated the achievements of WMU in recent years. He said China Rehabilitation Research Center, after 30 years of exploration and development, has become a large modern comprehensive rehabilitation institution integrating medical treatment, education, scientific research, engineering, information, and social services. This collaboration with WMU will promote the better and faster development of rehabilitation medicine and contribute more to the cause of rehabilitation medicine and the Healthy China initiative.

    Leaders of relevant departments of China Rehabilitation Research Center, WMU, and its affiliated hospitals attended the meeting. 

    During the visit, Wu Shicai and his delegation also visited the Affiliated Eye Hospital, the First Affiliated Hospital of WMU, the Second Affiliated Hospital, China Gene Medicine Valley, the History Museum of Wenzhou Medical University, and the Biomedical Research Building.
