On the morning of April 15, the opening ceremony of the Eye-Brain Research Center of State Key Laboratory of Ophthalmology, Optometry and Visual Science was held in the biomedical research building at the Chashan campus. Lu Yijun, Secretary of the WMU Party committee, Qu Jia, director of the State Key Laboratory of Ophthalmology, Optometry and Visual Science, Lu Fan, director of the National Clinical Medical Research Center for Eye Diseases, Jin Shengwei, vice president of WMU, heads of relevant administrative departments, the leadership of the affiliated Eye Hospital, and representatives of scientists participated in the event.
Lu Yijun pointed out that the establishment of the Eye-Brain Research Center marks the further expansion and improvement of the research field and level of the State Key Laboratory of our university. It is hoped that the research center will play an exemplary and leading role, make more pioneering and innovative achievements, accelerate the development of ophthalmology and optometry, and speed up the construction of a "double first-class" university.
It is reported that since its establishment in 2017, the State Key Laboratory of Ophthalmology, Optometry and Visual Science has continued to optimize the scientific research environment and contributed to the scientific research on eye health. As an important part of the Wenzhou Sci-tech Innovation Corridor Around Daluo Mountain, the laboratory will take advantage of WMU to carry out interdisciplinary research, on eye-brain research in particular, so as to promote the development of disciplines and build an internationally competitive eye health science and innovation highland.
