Recently, the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Science and Technology issued a document identifying the "Zhejiang Provincial Key Laboratory of Alzheimer's Disease Research" as a provincial key laboratory. Academician Song Weihong is the director of the laboratory.
Academician Song Weihong and his research team have focused on psychoneurotic diseases for 37 years, made a series of breakthroughs in the field of Alzheimer's disease and Down syndrome, and published more than 100 SCI papers in the world's top academic journals such as Nature Medicine, Nat Cell Biol, PNAS and so on. The Zhejiang Provincial Key Laboratory of Alzheimer's Disease Research is approved by the Provincial Science and Technology Department through the green project approval mechanism with strict procedures of qualification examination, video verification of the experimental site, video defense, expert review, revision of the documentation, and so on. It is of great significance to promote the original basic research and the clinical transformation of early diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of Alzheimer's disease and children's Down syndrome in Zhejiang Province.
It is understood that in 2020 a total of five research centers and laboratories at WMU has been designated as provincial research platforms, including a collaborative innovation center for biomedicine, the Zhejiang Key Laboratory of Intelligent Treatment and Life Support for Critical Care, Zhejiang International Science and Technology Cooperation Base for Digital Psychiatry and Diagnosis and Treatment of Alzheimer's Disease, Zhejiang International Science and Technology Cooperation Base for Translational Research on Tumors, and "Zhejiang-Canada" Joint Laboratory of Transformation Visual Cognition, demonstrating the leading and exemplary role of WMU’s dominant disciplines in Zhejiang.
