• Times Higher Education carries article on establishment of West-Strait Medical Alliance
  • Recently, Times Higher Education carried an article on the establishment of the West-Strait Medical Alliance entitled “Supporting China’s changing medical needs”.

    In September 2020, with the support of the Ministry of Education, the National Health Commission, and relevant provincial and municipal government departments, Wenzhou Medical University joined hands with the other seven universities, covering 20 cities in four provinces, namely Fujian, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, and Guangdong, to establish the West-Strait Medical Alliance, which is another practice of building an “important window” for medical education reform.

    Times Higher Education highlighted the role of the West-Strait Medical Alliance in the development of education and medical care in the cross-strait agglomeration. It is introduced that the establishment of the West-Strait Medical Alliance would help enhance all-round cooperation and exchanges of discipline construction, personnel training, and scientific research in education and healthcare, thus improving the quality of medical services in the West-Strait area. Besides, the article also serves as WMU’s gateway to the world as it introduced Wenzhou Medical University and its international development in terms of disciplines and programs, rankings and reputation, scientific research, and, in particular, the Alberta Institute which is co-constructed by Wenzhou Medical University and the University of Alberta, one of the world’s top 100 universities.
