• WMU achieved great results in the 12th "Challenge Cup" College Student Entrepreneurship Plan Competition
  • Youth is blooming in pursuit of our dreams. On August 30, the final of the twelfth session "Challenge Cup · Ningbo Jiangbei" Collegiate Entrepreneurship Plan Competition, which was hosted by the Zhejiang Provincial Communist Youth League, Zhejiang Provincial Education Department, Zhejiang Academy of Social Sciences, Zhejiang Association for Science and Technology, the Students’ Federation of Zhejiang Province, drew to a close at Ningbo University. Among 35 entries of our school, three won grand prizes (only 29 in undergraduate universities), seven won first prizes, 17 won second prizes and five won third prizes. Besides, WMU won the Outstanding Contribution Award (together with Zhejiang University and Ningbo University).

    The competition was divided into five categories: technological innovation and future industries, rural revitalization and poverty alleviation, urban governance and social services, ecological environmental protection and sustainable development, along with cultural creativity and regional cooperation. Since the competition began, there had been more than 150,000 young students in the whole province signing up, and 30,851 pieces of work participating in the school competition, 1,155 pieces of work from 108 universities entering the provincial semi-finals, and finally 154 pieces of work from 49 universities entering the provincial finals.

    After fierce competition, " Qiu'ao-Innovation FGF21, a new hope for reversing steatohepatitis", conducted by School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, and other two projects received the grand awards; "Spine relief + therapy device – a portable "guide to home" for intervertebral disc", conducted by School of the 2nd Clinical Medical Sciences, and other six projects won the first prizes; " Yimien: a platform for accurate prediction and evaluation of the curative effect on colorectal cancer", conducted by School of the 1st Clinical Medical SciencesSchool of Information and Engineering, and other 16 projects won second prizes; "The driving "elves" of wound healing", conducted by School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, and other 5 projects got the third prizes.

    Since the launch of the twelfth session of the “Challenge Cup” College Student Entrepreneurship Plan Competition at WMU in last November, the event has received concern and support from school leaders at all levels and attracted a majority of students.  Lu Yijun, the school’s party committee secretary, encouraged the participating teams before they set off for the final. Cheng Jinguo, deputy secretary of the school’s party committee, came to the scene to convey greetings to the participating teachers and students, and vice principal Jin Shengwei gave the team guidance and encouragement during the preparatory period of the competition. The participating teams were calm to take the challenge, and gave full play to their ability, demonstrating the morale of WMU students.
