• President Li Xiaokun was invited to address the Council Meeting of the Alliance for Medical Education of Yangtze River Delta
  • The council meeting of the Alliance for Medical Education of Yangtze River Delta was held in Hefei on June 5. Li Xiaokun, vice chairman of the Alliance, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and president of Wenzhou Medical University, was invited to give a keynote speech. Vice Governor of Anhui Province Wang Cuifeng attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Vice Chairman of Anhui Provincial People’s Political Consultative Conference and Director of Provincial Department of Education Li Heping, and Deputy Secretary General of Anhui Provincial People's Government Zuo Jun attended the meeting. Academician Chen Guoqiang, chairman of the Alliance and dean of Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine, Academician Shen Hongbing, vice-chairman (chairman-elect) and president of Nanjing Medical University, and chief leaders and experts from ten medical colleges and universities of higher learning in the Yangtze River Delta region attended the meeting.

    At the meeting, Li Xiaokun shared Wenzhou Medical University's successful experience in talent cultivation for general practice, 5G smart eye hospital with cloud platform, "eye valley" and "pharmaceutical valley" construction, and the construction of medical association. He particularly demonstrated the cooperative plans of sharing the education achievements of the Chinese-foreign jointly-run Alberta Institute of WMU with universities of the Alliance, establishing scientific research cooperation platforms, implementing joint training of talents, and promoting the construction of "double first-rate" universities and disciplines, etc., which were highly praised by the participants.

    The meeting reported the Alliance's recent work progress, development plan, and work plan, focusing on the integration development plan and the work plan of each discipline, and discussed the course platform construction. It is planned that by 2022, a preliminary sharing mechanism and platform for mutual recruitment of teachers, joint training of students, sharing of high-quality resources, and joint construction of disciplines within the alliance will be established to form a new pattern of mutual promotion and common development and give a good demonstration for the high-quality development of higher medical education in China and make greater contributions to the construction of a “Healthy China”.

    Established on December 23, 2019, the Alliance for Medical Education of Yangtze River Delta has been committed to solving the problems of unbalanced and inadequate development of medical education quality, leading the integration of high-quality medical education, scientific and technological innovation, medical services and medical talent training of the Yangtze River Delta region, and promoting the reform of higher medical education in China.
