  • Five WMU teachers become “Ten Thousand Talents Program” experts
  • According to a recent announcement made by the Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee’s Leading Group of Talent Work on the list of the second batch of “Outstanding Talents, Scientific and Technological Innovation Leading Talents and Youth Outstanding Talents for ‘Ten Thousand Talents Program’” , five teachers from Wenzhou Medical University (WMU) are among the winners, who are Professor Wang Liangxing becoming an “Outstanding Talent”, Professor Gao Hongchang, Researcher Zhou Xiangtian and Professor Zhu Xueqiong becoming “Scientific and Technological Innovation Leading Talents” and Researcher Huang Zhifeng a “Youth Outstanding Talent”. Up to now, WMU has a total of 10 talents selected by the provincial “Ten Thousand Talents Program”.

    Professor Wang Liangxing, a senior physician and doctoral tutor, is the candidate for the Director of the Internal Medicine Committee of Zhejiang Medical Association. He is in charge of the Zhejiang Provincial Key Discipline of Internal Medicine and the Zhejiang Provincial Supportive Discipline of Respiratory Diseases. Engaged in clinical, teaching and research work in respiratory medicine. In recent years, he has participated as a leading scientist in 7 national-level research projects and a number of provincial-level research projects, has published more than 50 SCI-indexed papers in SCI. As the chief scientist, he has won the first prize of the Chinese Medical Association Science & Technology Award as well as the first and second prizes of Zhejiang Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award. He has been selected as a “Young and Middle-aged Expert with Outstanding Contribution to National Health and Family Planning” and a “Zhejiang Young and Middle-aged Expert with Outstanding Contribution” , and is entitled to the special government allowances from the State Council.

    Researcher Gao Hongchang is a doctoral tutor who has long been engaged in the teaching and research of pharmacy, and is committed to exploring and developing the medical applications of metabolomics technology. In recent years, he has participated as a leading researcher in 2 national-level research projects and 1 provincial-level scientific research project, and has published more than 70 SCI-indexed papers. As the chief scientist, he has won two second prizes of Zhejiang Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award. He has been selected as a candidate for the third-level talents under the Zhejaing Provincial 151 Talent Project and has won titles including Young and Middle-aged Disciplines Leader of Zhejiang Higher Education Institutions, Promising Medical Worker, and Youth Outstanding Talent in Wenzhou.

    Researcher Zhou Xiangtian is a doctoral tutor who has long been engaged in the teaching and research of ophthalmology, and is committed to the basic and clinical research of myopia pathogenesis and genetic eye diseases. He has presided over the research of a project supported by grants of the National Natural Science Foundation for Distinguished Young Scholars, two general projects supported by grants of the National Natural Science Foundation and one key project of Zhejiang Natural Science  Fund. He has published more than 100 SCI-indexed papers, has been granted 5 invention patents, has won two second prizes of the National Science and Technology Progress Awards (ranked third and fourth in terms of contribution). He has been selected as a National Youth Outstanding Talent”, a member of the New Century Talent Support Program of the Ministry of Education, and a candidate for the first-level talents under the Zhejaing Provincial 151 Talent Project .

    Professor Zhu Xueqiong, a senior physician and doctoral tutor, is the Deputy Director of the Womens Oncology Committee of the Zhejiang Provincial Medical Association. She has been long engaged in the clinical and basic research of gynecological tumors, and has carried out a series of innovative research work in the diagnosis and treatment of uterine leiomyoma and cervical cancer. In recent years, she has participated as the leading scientist in three research projects supported by the grants of the National Natural Science Foundation and 3 provincial/ministerial level research projects, has published more than 50 SCI-indexed papers, and has won 2 first prizes at the municipal or the provincial department level in addition to 2 invention patents. She has been selected as a candidate for the first-level talents under the Zhejaing Provincial 151 Talent Project, a Young and Middle-aged Disciplines Leader of Zhejiang Higher Education Institutions, and a Zhejiang Provincial High-level Medical Innovative Talent.

    Researcher Huang Zhifeng is a doctoral tutor who has long been focusing on two scientific issues: the poor stability and unclear mechanism of action of protein drugs. With fibroblast growth factor (FGF) as the starting point, he has carried out the systematic innovative research covering areas from the extracellular to intracellular research, engineering key technologies to pharmacological mechanisms. In recent years, he has participated as the leading scientist in three research projects supported by the grants of the National Natural Science Foundation and one key project of Zhejiang Natural Science Fund, and published more than 30 SCI-indexed papers. He has won a second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award (ranked third in terms of contribution), a first prize of the Natural Science Award of the Ministry of Education (ranked second in terms of contribution), a second prize of the Zhejiang Technology Invention Award (ranked second in terms of contribution) and granted five invention patents. He has been selected as a top young talent in the national 10 Thousand Talent Planand a top young talent in Wenzhou.

    The second batch of “Outstanding Talents, Scientific and Technological Innovation Leading Talents and Youth Outstanding Talents for ‘Ten Thousand Talents Program’” consists of 200 selected talents, including 10 outstanding talents, 140 leading talents (60 scientific and technological innovation leading talents, 25 scientific and technological entrepreneurship leading talents, 19 leading talents in humanities and social sciences, 10 famous teachers, 20 highly skilled leading talents, 6 traditional craftsmanship leading talents) and 50 youth outstanding talents.
