  • Liang Guang and Huang Zhifeng selected on the fourth batch of National “10,000 Talents Plan”
  • Recently, the General Office of Organization Department of CPC Central Committee issued the “Notice on Printing and Distributing the Selected Personnel in the Fourth Batch of National ‘10,000 Talents Plan’”. Liang Guang was selected as a leader of technology and innovation while Huang Zhifeng was selected as a young talent, making a total of 8 talents from Wenzhou Medical University (WMU) being selected by the National “10,000 Talents Plan”.

    Liang Guang, a researcher and doctoral tutor at WMU, has long been dedicated to inflammatory disease targets and medicinal chemistry research, and is currently responsible for 6 national-level research projects including projects funded by the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and the National Key Research and Development Program. As a correspondence author, he has published more than 97 papers in SCI journals such as Nat Commun, Kidney Int, J Med Chem, and Diabetes. Citations of his papers has added up to 1600 times with the number of citations of a single article reaching more than 300 times. As the principal inventor, he has been granted 14 national invention patents. As the leading scientist, he has been awarded a second prize of the Natural Science Award of the Ministry of Education and a third prize of the Zhejiang Science and Technology Progress Award. He has been selected into the “151 Talent Project” of Zhejiang Province.. The “Innovative Team of Inflammatory Diseases Targets and New Drug Research Innovation Team” under his leadership has been selected on the first batch of high-level innovation teams in Zhejiang Province.

    Huang Zhifeng, a researcher and doctoral tutor, has been dedicated to solving two major scientific problems: lack of stability and unclear functional mechanism of protein drugs. Resting on fibroblast growth factor (FGF) as the starting point, he carried out a systematic innovative research ranging from extracellular to intracellular study, engineering key technologies to pharmacological mechanisms. As the first and correspondent author, he has published more than 30 research papers in authoritative SCI journals such as Molecular Cell, Cell Reports, Kidney International, Biomaterials, PNAS. He has won 5 authorized invention patents as the principal inventor. He has won a second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award (ranking 3rd among winners), a first prize of Natural Science of the Ministry of Education (ranking 2nd among winners), and a second prize of Zhejiang Technology Invention (ranking 2nd among winners). He is currently responsible for a number of scientific research projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation and the Zhejiang Provincial Major Science and Technology Program.

    The National “High-level Talents Special Support Plan” or the National “10,000 Talents Plan” in short, was jointly launched by 11 ministries and commissions including the Organization Department of the Central Committee of the CPC and the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security to provide special support for all the outstanding talents, leading talents and young talents in the fields of natural science, engineering technology, philosophy and social sciences across China. It aims to speed up the training and building a group of high-level innovative and entrepreneurial talents who can provide strong support for building China an innovative country.
