  • WMU held the Opening Ceremony of Class 2018 Overseas Students
  • On the afternoon of October 23, the opening ceremony of the class 2018 overseas students was held in Xuguang Hall of Chashan Campus. President Li Xiaokun, Vice President Cao Jianming, along with the responsible personnel of relevant school departments and secondary colleges attended the ceremony. 169 undergraduate students and 25 graduate students from 49 countries including Italy, Burundi, Canada and India etc. gathered together to witness this significant moment.

    At the opening ceremony, President Li expressed warm welcome to the students who came overseas on behalf of the university. He inspired students with his own experience to concentrate on their studies and dare to be the first during the best period of life. He hoped that they will become one of the WMU people who are brave, enterprising, innovative, and courageous.

    Teacher representative Liu Danhui encouraged new students to blend into the new learning environment as soon as possible. She suggested that they’d be not only ambitious but also down-to-earth. After getting a clear vision of the medical dreams, they’d better make an early planning for their careers.

    Graduate student representative Abdulla Husain Abdulla Ahmed Gharbal, conveyed his love for China. He quoted the Chinese proverb which means the realm is from your heart while he changed the word “heart” into its homophone ”newness” to encourage every freshman to take a positive attitude to embrace their campus life.

    Undergraduate student representative Norhan Sherif Bangatahmed Abdulrahman was very excited to come to WMU to start a new campus life, and looking forward to experiencing multiculturalism with other freshmen in the future. He expected to broaden his horizons, keep learning and growing in the university.

    Afterwards, with all the new students standing up, the oath of medic that health fasten, the life give entrusted was chanted in chorus solemnly. The ceremony ended in a beautiful song named Invisible Wings.
