  • WMU signs MOU on cooperation with Chulabhorn Royal Academy, Thailand
  • On September 20th, a delegation from the Chulabhorn Royal Academy, Thailand led by Professor Nithi Mahanonda, Secretary General of Chulabhorn Royal Academy and Principal of HRH Princess Chulabhorn College of Medical Science, visited Wenzhou Medical University (WMU). WMU President Li Xiaokun, Vice President Cao Jianming met with and signed a MOU on cooperation with the delegation. Relevant officials from the Graduate School, the International Cooperation and Exchange Office, the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, the School of Laboratory Medicine and Life Science, School of Public Health & Management also attended the meeting.

    During the meeting, President Li expressed a warm weclome to the delegation and briefed delegation members on the general information of WMU. As he pointed out, WMU has a long history of close cooperation with Thai universities and expects to establish a friendly cooperative relationship with Chulabhorn Royal Academy, Thailand, to carry out mutually beneficial exchanges and cooperation on education, scientific research, clinical medicine and personnel in the fields of medical health, pharmacy, cancer and life sciences. Nithi Mahanonda said he was highly impresed by WMU's strong scientific research strength, the scale of medical service accommodation and management model of affiliated hospitals. He looked forward to working with WMU to build a research center of TCM in Thailand to promote the application and development of integrated Chinese Traditional and Western medicine in tumor treatment in Thailand. The two sides held in-depth talks about issues of shared interests including medical education and development of scientific research in the two countries before signing a MOU on cooperation. As agreed, the two sides will make full use of their respective advantages and resources to carry out comprehensive cooperation in the fields of medical and health sciences, such as joint educational programs, faculty and student exchanges, joint scientific research and clinical practice.

    During the visit, the delegation also visited the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmaceutical Engineering Research Base of National Engineering Research Center for New Drug Development, the Human Body Science Museum, the Affiliated Eye Hospital and the First Affiliated Hospital of WMU.

    Chulabhorn Royal Academy, Thailand, founded by Professor Dr. Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn who serves as its President is an outstanding research center and higher education institution, focusing on cancer, life sciences, biochemistry and environmental toxicology research. It consists of the Chulabhorn Princess's Highness Medical College, the Chulabhorn Research Institute and the Chulabhorn Hospital. The  Chulabhorn Research Institute is committed to integrating resources and expertise in various fields with a focus on Transformational Research to address health problems and diseases caused by environmental issues.
