  • WMU student wins the 11th China Youth Science and Technology Innovation Award
  • On August 24th, the 11th China Youth Science and Technology Innovation Awards Presentation Ceremony was held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. Hu Yuanbo, an undergraduate student enrolled in the School of the Second Clinical Medical Sciences at Wenzhou Medical University (WMU) in 2014, received the 11th China Youth Science and Technology Innovation Award, the highest honor in the field of science and technology for youth in China. Hu Yuanbo became the third undergraduate student from WMU to receive the honor, following Lin Xianfeng and Chen Di.

    When studying at WMU, Hu Yuanbo carried out the research on “effects of EGFL6 recombinant protein on fracture repair” , led and participated in 1 national-level research project, 2 provincial “new seedlings” research projects, 4 school-level projects, published 3 SCI papers (with the highest impact factor of 5 points for a single article), 1 paper in a core journal, and participated in the application for 3 invention patents in China. The research team led by Hu has won the grand prize at the 15th “Challenge Cup” National College Students’ Extracurricular Science and Technology Works Competition, and the National Silver Award at the 3rd “Internet +” College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. Hu Yuanbo’s innovations made him stand out in the competition and one of the 31 college students receiving the awards.

    Reportedly, the China Youth Science and Technology Innovation Award is a lofty honor set up for young people based on the will of late Chinese leader Comrade Deng Xiaoping. Each year, a total of 100 full-time college, high school and primary school students are awarded. The 11th China Youth Science and Technology Innovation Award selection campaign aims to thoroughly study and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, commemorating the 40th anniversary of reform and opening up, guiding the young people to remember the great achievements of the late Comrade Deng Xiaoping to stir up the innovative spirit of young people for the cultivation of innovative talents. In this year’s competition, 6 students and 2 teams from Zhejiang Province won the title of “China Youth Science and Technology Innovation Award” and the “Xiaoping Technology Innovation Team” respectively.
