  • WMU and QUT Sign Agreement on Joint Master’s and PhD Programs
  • On April 27th, Wenzhou Medical University (WMU) and Queensland University of Technology, Australia(QUT)signed an agreement on joint master’s programs and a supplemental agreement on joint PhD programs. The agreements allow WMU’s staff and graduate students to do the joint degree programs under the guidance of graduate advisors and faculty members from both universities. As agreed, QUT PhD degrees will be conferred to those WMU staff members who meet the degree requirements. Qualified WMU’s graduate students will receive master’s degrees from both universities and a PhD degree from QUT.

    WMU’s deputy party secretary Lu Yijun attended the signing ceremony and delivered a speech. He said that WMU and QUT “enjoy a good foundation for cooperation and profound friendship”, hoping both universities to take the opportunity of the meeting to further expand the field, enrich the content and upgrade the level of cooperation to promote mutually beneficial win-win development.

    Professor Helen Klaebe, Dean of the Graduate School of QUT, introduced QUT’s general situation and dominant disciplines, and the application and training of joint master’ degree and doctoral programs. Moreover, she had a thorough discussion with WMU’s staff members responsible for discipline construction and graduate education management from relevant colleges and schools on specific issues related to the expansion of cooperation field and personnel engagement under the programs.

    During the meeting, Prof. Helen Edward, Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Health at QUT and Yuan Jia, Director of QUT international cooperation program, exchanged views with leaders from WMU’s International Cooperation and Exchange Office, Graduate School, staff members responsible for discipline construction and graduate education management from relevant colleges and schools, staff members and graduate students.
