  • Four lecturers from WMU were selected as National High-level Talents Special Supportive Project innovation leading talents
  • Recently Central Talent Coordination Working Group Office released the third batch of talents list of National High-level Talents Special Supportive Project, 4 from WMU were selected, among which, Qu Jia was selected as National Prestigious Teacher, Chen Hao, Lin Zhuofeng and Jin Zibing were selected as science and technology innovation leading talents. This is another substantial achievement WMU get in national high-level talent programs. Until now, there are 6 lecturers from the university that were selected in National High-level Talents Special Supportive Project.

    Professor Qu Jia is the main founder of higher education of optometry in China. He combined the traditional ophthalmology with modern optometry and create the major of optometry. He makes outstanding contribution on the research in the pathogenesis of myopia and hereditary eye diseases, and the training on China optometry talents. Professor Qu is students and school oriented. Being working in the education and research field for more than 30 years, he has won awards like “National Model Teacher”, “National Students Selected Favorite University President” and “Zhejiang Province Meritorious Teacher”. Professor Qu Jia has led the editing of 29 national textbooks and 12 monographs on ophthalmology and participated in the editing and translation of 7 monographs. He is the first to establish an “Internet + Optometry Education” model in China, and accomplished projects of national excellent courses, national excellent resource sharing courses and People’s Medical Publishing House MOOC courses. Professor Qu Jia has won 2 second award of National Teaching Achievement and 2 first award of Zhejiang Province Teaching Achievement.

    Professor Chen Hao has long been engaged in the scientific research and application on eye vision science. He has formed a series of independent intellectual property rights and international leading research results, and carried on effective transfer and promotion. Professor Chen has taken leading roles on national projects such as major research project of the 12th Five- Year Plan science and technology supportive program, national science and technology cooperation major projects and National Natural Science Foundation projects. He published more than 50 papers as first author and corresponding author on world renowned SCI journals such as Biomaterials Science and Journal of Materials Chemistry B, etc. Professor Chen Hao is the chief editor of several 11th Five-Year Plan and 12th Five-Year Plan textbooks and first inventor of 5 authorized patents. He has won 2 provincial awards on his research results and 7 SFDA research result transfer product certificate. Professor Chen was selected by the Ministry of Education in the New Century Excellent Talent Support Project, and Innovation Talent Promotion Project young and middle aged science and technology innovation leading talents by the Ministry of Science and Technology.

    Researcher Lin Zhuofeng has long been engaged in the clinical, fundamental and pharmaceutical research and development on human fibroblast growth factor, and achieved important research result on the field of cell growth factor and the pathogenesis of metabolic diseases which demonstrated the molecular mechanism of FGF21 anti-diabetes and FGF21 anti atherosclerosis and provided new target point for the development of new anti-metabolic diseases drugs. Mr. Lin has been the leading expert of National Natural Science Fund major research plan development projects and National Natural Science Fund projects. His research results have been published on top-level journals in respective fields, such as Cell Metab (IF 17.565), Circulation (IF 15.32) and J Hepato (IF 11.336) and been covered by special review of Nature Reviews magazine. Mr. Lin was selected in National Cross-Century Young Talents Building Program and Zhejiang Province Global Experts Recruitment Program, and was awarded as middle aged science and technology innovation leading talents by the Ministry of Science and Technology.

    Having originally identified the new disease-causing gene of retinal pigmentosa and myopia, Professor Jin Zibing has been long working on the pathogenesis and diagnosis and treatment of hereditary eye diseases, and established IPS cells of retinal pigmentosa patients first time in the world, enhanced the academic status of the subject in the world and move forward related technology transfer in China. Professor Jin has presided over several 973 Plan sub-projects and National Natural Science Fund projects, and published more than 50 papers on world leading SCI journals such as PNAS, Nature Communication and Biomaterials. Professor Jin was selected in National Cross-Century Young Talents Building Program and Zhejiang Province Global Experts Recruitment Program, and was awarded as middle aged science and technology innovation leading talents by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Zhejiang Province Qianjiang Scholars distinguished guest professor and Zhejiang Province New Century 151 Talent Project special funding researcher.

    It is reported that the Central Talent Coordination Working Group coordinated experts from Central Department of Propaganda, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Science and Technology, selected 723 science and technology leading talents, 373 science and technology entrepreneurship leading talents, 220 philosophy and social science leading talents and 197 prestigious teachers from related talent programs.
